A school in Nakuru has left many students stranded after it converted to a girls’ school only without informing them.

St Georges Greenland Senior Boys School in Nakuru County left more than 60 students shocked after they reported to school only to find they were not welcome.

According to the students, the management changed the school neither without informing neither them nor their parents.

However, according to the school head, the decision was reached upon after the boys became unruly and ungovernable, leading to school unrest in 2017.

“We have been looking for schools that can integrate us but no one wants a new Form Four student in their school,” said a distressed Form 4 student as quoted by the Nation.

According to the county director of education Isaac Nyang’au, they are already following up on the matter after parents forwarded their complaints.

“A team is already handling the matter but I urge parents who have encountered incidences to report to the education offices immediately,” Nyang’au said.

The parents are now calling on Education CS Fred Matiang’i to intervene and help them sort out the situation.

Those affected include 16 students who were to proceed to Form Four this year and will now be forced to find another school if the situation is not solved.
