The fire whose cause had not been established while going to press, completely consumed three iron sheet structures including the school's administration office, books and general store.

Addressing press at the scene, the school's director Christine Mbula, said the fire started at 7.30 pm and was informed by neighbours living close to the school, who called her.

“The items lost in the inferno included school's administration documents, text books, pupils’ exercise books, kitchen-ware, food stuff such as maize, rice, maize flour and vegetables.

She said the text books belonged to pupils from nursery school to class eight adding that the incident had seriously affected the school's operations.

The director said that over 11 teachers were also affected given that their staff room was also completely razed down including some of their personal effects.

She said the incident had affected over 200 pupils learning in the private school since they could not have their meals prepared for them given that cookeries, wares and food had all been consumed by the fire.

Mbula disclosed that the Mavoko Sub County Fire Brigade's crew promptly came to their rescue and put off the fire before it spread to other structures within the school's compound after attempts by residents to contain it remained futile.
