Biashara Ward MCA Stephen Kuria has decried over the high rate of school drop out in the county.
Addressing residents on Saturday during Drugs and Alcohol Abuse sensitisation forum at Kunste Hotel in Nakuru town Kuria blamed the trend on drugs, alcohol abuse and early pregnancies.
Kuria observed that there is an urgent need for stakeholders to collectively address the problem of school dropout in the area.
He further hinted that the high rate of school dropouts in the county was contributing to many other problems including unemployment, crime, poor health increased drug abuse among others.
“We should urgently come together to address this issue because it is eating us deep and deeper. As a leader am raising this alarm so that all stakeholders can join hands in the fight against circumstances that lead to our young men and women dropout of school,” said Kuria.
He called on the county, national government and Non Governmental Organaisations to join hands with concerned departments to rescue youths.
