The initiative targets to reach over 7,000 girls across the country in three months.

Speaking at Ringa Primary school where at least 700 girls received the Huru Sanity towels, Pamoja Committee member Lynette Oduor noted that the initiative is aimed at keeping the girl child in school.

"A lot of girls miss school because they cannot afford sanitary towels due to poverty. Girls are forced to use rags, cotton and other unhygienic methods which expose them to infection and disease," she said.

Huru International Project manager Valentine Samoi said that the initiative will make the girl child stay in school for than 3 years without missing lessons.

Each of the girls received a Guru kit which is a backpack containing eight reusable sanitary towels, bar soap, three girls pants, an instruction guide and information, education and communication materials.

Ringa Primary school is the first to benefit with Huru sanitary kits this year a move that will restore the dignity and self-esteem of the girls.
