Speaking on Friday at Nyandoche Ibere secondary school, Managing Director of Afya Yetu organization Jane Nyokabi urged school girls to embark on serious academic activities rather than engaging in premarital sex, which is destructive.

She urged teachers and parents to take prime responsibility of guiding the teens by enforcing existing rules and regulations and counseling.

“The rate at which young girls are dropping out of school due to early pregnancies is alarming. This is totally unacceptable and as teens, you need to concentrate on your studies in aim of accomplishing great academic standards,” she said.

“Parents and teachers are always there for you. Ensure you have given them respect because they also have an obligation to ensure that you are brought up well,” said Nyokabi.

She asked teachers to liaise with willing organizations that can hold seminars in their institutions in order to address the issue of morality.

“Morality is a pertinent issue in our society. I therefore urge teachers to try and reach willing organizations so that our children will get advice from experts,” she said.

During the seminar, over 200 girls from the institution received sanitary towels.

The MD promised to donate the same after every month besides  promising to sponsor by paying fee of brightest needy girls from the school come next term.
