The administration of a public school in Limuru has been accused of withholding the KCPE results for candidates until they pay a Sh420 fee each.

Parents of children who sat the examinations at Limuru Mission Primary School claim the head teacher of the institution demand that the candidates must pay the amount to access their results.

The parents quoted by the Daily Nation that they were informed Sh400 goes towards the salaries of teachers paid by the Parent Teachers Association (PTA).

Sh20, according to the parents, is meant to cater for the photocopying birth certificate which candidates use to register for KCPE.

Photocopying a single copy normally costs Sh3.

The school's head teacher, Esther Tony, rubbished the claims, saying the school had asked the parents to pay only Sh20 for a feeding programme that was voluntary.

"We do not charge any fee because the ministry outlawed it. The only time a parent can incur a cost before having the results released is when his or her child has lost a school book," Tony told the paper.
