The Masaba North-based institution has already complied with the policy as students welcomed the drastic reduction of school fee from Sh51,000 to Sh39,757 per year.

Addressing parents on Tuesday during the annual education day, Mr Bruce Kerage challenged other school heads across the country to implement the directive, saying the government has increased allocation to the institutions in a bid to make education affordable.

“I wish to announce today that from this term, our institution has complied with the policy as laid down by the Ministry of Education. This is therefore means that you will require paying about Sh40,000 annually from the current Sh51,000,” he said.

“We may not sometimes support government policies but I see sense in this one. I call upon all school heads across the country to effect the policy for the sake of making education available to all,” Mr Kerage said.

The school head who has served in the institution since 1998 asked former old boys and girls to pick their KCSE certificates that were impounded due to failure to clear school fee.

“There are also so many KNEC certificates in my office which remains uncollected even after the government gave the directive. I call upon owners to collect them as soon as possible,” he added.
