Atuti also called on the school heads to consider partnering with security officers from the Ministry of Interior and Co-ordination of National Government to train student leaders on the mechanisms of detecting and mitigating security threats.

Speaking to the press at Nyabururu Girls National School, during Kisii Central sub-county's Education Day, Atuti said there was need for student leaders to be capacity-build by security officers from the Interior Ministry to empower them with skills in detection of security threats in their schools.

"I am asking secondary school heads from Kisii central sub-county to consider allowing student leaders from their institutions to be drilled on security threats detection and mitigation skills, to assure students of their safety while in school," stated Atuti.

He said, the training will not only assure students of their safety, but will also ensure school properties are not lost through cases of student riots as they will be counseled and guided on how to find solutions to their problems without posing security threats in their institutions and the surrounding communities.
