A study by the Ministry of Education has revealed that academic performance in most schools, had gone down due to indiscipline.
During the release of the report, director general for Education, Leah Rotich said over 90 per cent of headteachers and teachers reported that there were cases of indiscipline in their schools.
"The most common forms of indiscipline recorded were absenteeism, noise-making and truancy,'' she said, Tuesday.
Dubbed 'National Assessment System for Monitoring Learner Achievement (Nasmla)', the report also disclosed that about 3 per cent of teachers have the required academic and professional qualifications to teach standard three pupils.
It also disclosed that most of the pupils in Class 3 were under-age.
Turkana, Garissa and Kwale Counties were the leading, for they had cases of children above 10 years, in Class 3.
The survey was conducted in conjunction with the Kenya National Examination Council (Knec).
