School heads who allow funeral services to be held at their schools will be held accountable and also sacked.
According to the Education Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang'i, the heads have to ensure that there are no funeral services during school programmes.
Speaking on Sunday at Nyambari High School during the prize giving day Dr Matiang’i said the habit has hindered delivery of quality education, and directed regional education officers to take actions against culprits.
“Funeral programmes have been interrupting education in our schools we need to come out of this,” said Dr Matiang’i.
He added that schools should be given enough time in their studies without being interrupted for such functions.
“We don’t want to hear our schools being disturbed each day for these functions since you find that from Wednesday schools are being closed,” added Matiang’i
He also cautioned the principals against increasing schools fees without consulting stakeholders.
