The Ministry of Education has announced new strategies to counter leakages in schools to curb the rate at which cheating is occurring.

Addressing a press conference on Wednesday at Jogoo House in Nairobi, Education CS, Fred Matiang’i has said that examinations shall commence immediately schools close in November. The move, he said, is meant to eradicate collusion between subject teachers and students from the other forms to aid the candidates cheat in exams.

Furthermore, the CS reiterated that school heads will, during this year's examinations, remain the chief managers in the administration of both the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) and Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examinations.

Cheating in national examinations has been rising, a fact that prompted the Education Ministry to make an overhaul in the Kenya National Examination Council where top officials were sacked due to incompetence in office.

Matiang’i has also been on record saying that his ministry shall affect stringent measures to restore sanity in the education sector.
