An education official in Kisii County has warned school heads against hiking school fees.

Peter Motandege, a top official in the county education department said the government announced free secondary education for day scholars.

“Parents whose children are at public schools and day scholars should not pay any money. Any teacher directing day scholars to pay fees should be reported to authorities with effect,” he said.

Motandege said teachers should be satisfied with their salaries which they receive from the government.

He challenged Kisii County teachers in various schools to work hard for better performance in future exams.

“The county did not perform well in last year’s exams. This year, teachers should work extra hard for good results to be achieved,” he said.

He assured that officials from the education department in the county will go round all schools to inspect schools.
