School heads from Kitutu Masaba who manage to get CDF cash for renovations of their institutions should desist from engaging in corruption, area MP has warned.
Speaking at Karantini Primary School during a fund raising, Mr Timothy Bosire raised the issue following fraud allegation that have marred two school heads from the region.
He said the kitty was meant to improve infrastructure, education and health at rural areas hence calling for transparency in handling the cash by institutions that are lucky to get it.
“CDF is not meant for personal gains. Those who mismanage it will face me head on because I don’t want a repeat of Biticha and Gachuba (primary school’s whose heads are facing corruption charges at Kisii law courts) because it’s my duty to ensure it performs the intended purpose,” he said.
Bosire said his administration was closely monitoring projects that are supported by the kitty and warned of severe consequences for those who may be suspected of hiring cheap contractors in a bid to make extra coins from the projects.
“I want to assure you that my administration is carrying out an audit to ascertain the quality of projects supported by administration especially in our schools. We don’t want scenarios where people go for cheap contractors with an aim of pocketing extra coins from projects sponsored by CDF,” he added.
According to Bosire, institutions that use wisely the donation from the kitty stood a chance of benefiting for a number of times.
“I am insisting on institutions because we mostly issue cheques to schools. Schools that impress on the projects powered by the kitty normally stand a good chance of getting more for other projects,” he said.
