Kisumu County Education CeC Jennipher Kere has issued a stern warning to primary school heads to allow pupils to return home early enough.

The county executive noted that some primary schools have remedial classes that go up to as late as seven o’clock in the evening.

Speaking to this writer in her county headquarters office on Wednesday, Kere warned that her ministry was going to take action against any primary school head teacher whose school releases pupils late after remedial classes.

“The county government is not against remedial classes in our schools as we are also dedicated towards offering support to our public schools for better performance to be achieved. What we are against is releasing the children late as it is not safe for them,” said Kere.

“The latest time that my ministry allows for school heads to release the children is six o’clock in the evening,” added Kere.

She also warned against forcing school going children to be in school by as early as six o’clock in the morning.

The county executive also promised to donate text books to public schools before the end of this financial year.
