Many primary and secondary schools are set for first term vacation this week.
This is the most celebrated time by pupils and students. Pupils celebrate this season in different ways. The writings on the end of term report cards either trigger bad or jovial moods depending on indicated grades. It is also the time when ‘Lovers in the make’ jot the best letters.
I remember how in our days we would flip through the dictionary chasing the best, complex but love filled terminologies to win the hearts our ‘then’ fiancées.
It was a time of making love ‘Undercover’ as well composed love letters would be distributed by our desk or classmates without the consent of teachers.
That is when school love was love. It was also a time of sorrow as ‘School lovers’ would part for holiday and stay without hearing from their lovers unlike nowadays where even students have phones which they can use to smear their love details either through texts or live calls.
Life during schools holidays was full of fun. Pupils would play together, learn new things through interactions and mingle with their relatives. Disobedient children would also be rehabilitated during holiday times unlike digital kids whose treat is notably calm to suit their rights.
Students and pupils love freedom which would be freely granted on Sundays after church. As students and pupils break for their holidays this weeks, it a congrats to them for persevering the hardships of the longest term.
This should be the time to learn new things away from the theoretical system. It’s a time to laugh, share school experiences, and mingle with relatives and friends. Holidays are short and junior scholars should fully enjoy them.
