A primary school in Molo is on the spot after asking kids joining Standard One to do so with their own desks.

Every pupil at Moto primary school is asked to have one desk.

Parents have lamented the move wondering why they were being told to buy furniture in public school at a time the government is funding public education.

"We are forced to buy desk for each pupil joining standard one," George Maina, a parent said.

At a time when parents, most who live poor lives, are planning to starting the planning season, it has become difficult to raise the Sh1200 for a desk.

"We are asking the government to intervene. I have been forced to use fertilizer money to buy this desk," another parent said.

The school's headteacher said they have been forced to ask for the desks as the government has failed to equip the school.

The plight of the school was first brought to the limelight on facebook by a user - Sam Amuj Mwaura.
