St Charles Lwanga Gesero Mixed Secondary School principal and a supervisor have been suspended over opening the wrong exam paper on Tuesday Morning.
The school is in Bonchari constituency in Kisii County and it is said, the supervisor opened the Geography paper instead of a Kiswahili paper that was supposed to be done in the morning.
Geography paper was to be done in the afternoon on Tuesday.
The supervisor explained that the error was caused by a missing razor blade
The supervisor, before regional and County Education officials and the security team led by the County Commissioner Ms Kula Hache, explained that he had gone to the office to get a razor and on coming back he accidentally opened the Geography paper.
Ms Hache confirmed the incident on Tuesday at 8 am and said the County Criminal Investigation Officer Mr Justus Burudi has launched an investigation into the matter to determine whether it was accidental or intentional.
"We are not taking the matter lightly as you see and that's why Mr Burudi has launched an investigation," said Hache.
She added that further disciplinary action will be taken by relevant education bodies after investigations are concluded.
"The officials who have replaced the principal and supervisor will continue doing so in the coming days," said Ms Hache.
Regional Education Coordinator Richard Chepkawai said the replacement action is in accordance to exam regulations.
Chepkawai added that the compromised paper was resealed in the presence of all education officials who had been called to the school.
"The paper had not been taken out of the official envelope though the seal had been broken. We then decided to reseal it in a brown envelope," he said.
However, the form four candidates are currently undertook the Geography paper in the afternoon after Kiswahili paper which was done on Tuesday morning.
