The county government of Kisumu has offered support to a primary school in Seme sub-county whose classrooms crumpled in December last year. Governor Jack Ranguma presented 200 iron sheets to Urudi primary to help them re-build as schools reopen. Ranguma said he was dismayed by the tragedy that fell the school and responded with an emergency help to assist the school to continue with learning. "This is very sad at a time our pupils were about to start their 2015 lessons, that is why I have come personally to grieve with you and assist where possible,” he said. He further pledged to construct four modern classrooms to the school as part of the school improvement. Area MP James Nyikal also contributed Sh200, 000 from the CDF emergency kitty to assist the community put up some classrooms for learning. Nyikal further pledged that CDF will construct two classrooms for the school very soon. “For the emergency receive the small cash but CDF is going to put up two more classrooms for the school,” he said. The governor also urged the community to put up two more classrooms through contributions from friends and parents. He said primary schools still remain with the national government but the county government of Kisumu will respond to such catastrophes. “My government will not sit back and watch as our classrooms deteriorate, we will assist even though education has not been devolved," he said.
