County Director of Education, Nereah Olik, ordered for the closure of the school, St. Julian's Academy, after realising seeing that it was not giving quality education. Olik said that her officers had visited the school in 2015, and had advised the school to employ trained teachers.

The school's administration, however, did not take up the advice leading to Olik's decision to shut down the school.

Speaking in her Siaya office, she expressed that despite the fact that the school had a place with a private designer, the students are Kenyan, therefore,  the ministry still has oversight and has to make sure that good, quality education is offered.

She urged schools to liaise with her and her office so that they could easily help if a problem arises.
