A worker at Bishop Gatimu Girls’ school for 10 years has finally been caught with hundreds of stolen items from the institution.
The 52-year-old suspect was nabbed on Saturday night after a guard noticed that one of the staff houses was unlocked and the lights turned off at around 3am.
“The night guard became suspicious and immediately raised the alarm. Staff members in the school came to find that several items had been stolen from the house,” Mathira West OCPD David Kemboi said.
The man is suspected of stealing students’ textbooks, laboratory equipment, and desks, bar soaps, pangas, utensils, computers and underwear belonging to the students which were found after staff members at the school conducted a house to house search.
Several pairs of spectacles, hundreds of bras and sanitary towels which had gone missing from their dormitories were also found in the house.
At another house where the suspect led the police, more stolen items among them a photo of President Uhuru Kenyatta taken with students during his visit to the school earlier this year were found.
The photo had been taken from the school library.
