A 13-year-old school boy was found hanging on a rope last evening in her grandmother’s house at Gachagi slums, Makongeni.
The boy had allegedly just come from school as the guardian went about her daily activities.
According to the neighbours, the boy seemed unhappy and he allegedly could be heard talking loudly to himself and later started singing before he was found dead.
Confirming the incident, area chief Joseph Mwaniki said the boy might have been stressed up from school as it is astonishing for a minor to commit suicide.
“We are all shocked after the incident as this has never happened in this area. There is a possibility the deceased was stressed by someone or something as no one can commit suicide out of nothing,” he explained.
The deceased’s grandmother Jane Wambui has appealed to the area administrator to help her get to the cause of the tragedy.
Mwaniki added that they are interrogating the head teacher where the boy went to school to get information on the deceased’s behaviour through the day.
The boy’s body was taken to Thika Level Five Hospital mortuary.
