Arson attacks continue to be reported in several parts of the country and at least 100 schools have been affected.
The fires which have recently resulted in students appearing in courts and several teachers being suspended in relation to the same, have been blamed on exam fever and radical changes in the education sector spearheaded by the Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i.
Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut) Secretary General Wilson Sossion has reiterated that radical changes in the sector without fruitful consultations with the stakeholders are to be blamed for the recent cases of arson and return of strikes in schools.
Some schools have been shut down due to massive loss of property but others have decided to stay put.
