The chairman of Nairobi County Secondary Schools Drama Festivals, Kevin Mwangi, has commented on the increase in the number of institutions taking part in the annual event.
Addressing the zonal drama festival that ended on Sunday at Jamhuri Primary school, Mwangi said that this year, the festival attracted more schools than in the past.
“The competition is moving away from the tradition where we used to know only two schools. Today, we have new entrants like Olympic Primary, Hope Academy, and St. Juliet school,” Mwangi said.
He congratulated head teachers for allowing more students to take part in the festival, noting that it’s a sign of commitment to developing students’ talents.
Mwangi also added that the festival has introduced new categories including stand-up comedy and modern dance aimed at widening the talent development of students at an early stage in their life.
At the same time, Mwangi advised students to explore their talents by participating in events they are interested in.
“I hope students have seen how people like Churchill and other young comedians are living happily due to their talents,” he added.
