Barasa directed all school administrators in the sub-county to ensure all their food handlers have been medically certified to avoid contaminating food for their consumers with food-related diseases.

Speaking on Monday afternoon at Sameta High school during the sub-county education stakeholders meeting, Barasa warned school administrations in the area of dire consequences if found to have engaged food handlers and cooks who are not medically certified and approved by the public health officers.

He challenged the school administrations to ensure their cooks and food handlers exercise due diligence while handling food meant for the school communities' consumption as part of the food safety and security measures.

"I am challenging school administrations within Sameta sub-county to ensure their cooks are medically certified and issued with public health certificates to guard against  contaminating food for their consumers," stated Barasa.
