A 14 year-old-boy brought joy and celebrations to a local school in Siaya, after he scored 440 marks in the KCPE examination that were announced on Monday.
It was joy and tears of happiness after Russel Otieno, from Awelo Primary School in Siaya performed wonderfully to place his school among the best in the country.
Otieno attributed his success to the team work he had with his teachers and fellow classmates, and noted that his dream has been to join Alliance High school and later study medicine and become a neurosurgeon.
Awelo Primary School head teacher Barack Odhiambo said Otieno was a hard working and disciplined pupil.
The boy's mother, Beatrice Otieno expressed her joy, attributing her son’s success to hard work and determination.
“I knew that my son was going to do well but never imagined he would emerge as among the best performers in the country,” said Otieno.
She however expressed fear that her son may fail to join the school of his choice, given that as a family they are not in a position to raise the school fees for a national school.
She now calls for well-wishers to come to their son’s aid and help him pursue his dream of becoming a neurosurgeon.
