The Ministry of Education has partnered with mobile phone service provider Safaricom to connect all public secondary schools in the country to the 4G network broadband as a means of digitizing learning.
Education Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i , while at Kakoneni Girls High School in Malindi Sub County, said the government’s move to digitize learning has started with Kakoneni Girls .
The school is the first to benefit in Kilifi County.
“This school is going to be the first one to digitize learning in this region and we have partnered with safaricom to achieve this countrywide by hooking to the 4G broadband,” said Dr. Matiang’i.He also donated three laptops to the school principal, deputy principal and the dean of students to be used to keep the records /data of the students and transmit vital information.
Dr. Matiang'i also added that “Once the internet connection is done, the school will be transmitting data directly to Jogoo house, Ministry of Education headquarters for easy monitoring of the day to day learning activities”.
