Teachers have been urged to support and nurture student’s talents instead of concentrating only on academic.

Speaking during the homecoming ceremony of Daisy Chepchirchir on Saturday, a form three student who became fourth in the just concluded china world junior championships, the principal St Agatha Mokwo Girls Secondary School Agnes Gikunda challenged students to work hard in both their academic and co curricular activities.

“I am impressed by the performance of our student thanks to our able and dedicated coach, we have 40 athletes who train in various disciplines making the school the only athletic I center in thane country and we are working hard to make their dreams come true,” she said

She added that the girl is an average performer with a minimum grade of B Plain, obedient, God fearing and ready to learn.

The 17-year-old girl said that hard work, determination and putting God first is what propelled her exemplary performance of the just concluded China cross county by emerging the fourth and taking a silver medal for the best team.

“I started running 3000 steeplechase in 2012 while in class eight and won gold medal in Barcelona, US Bronze, Nigeria Gold and silver recently became fourth in china despite the injury that I had, I am now focusing on the World championships track steeplechase in Beijing and hope to win gold,” she said.

She gave tribute to the principal and the staff of the school at large for offering full support by giving her moral support and urged other students to focus on their talents despite a fall since loosing a race is the beginning of success.
