The Uasin Gishu County fire department has urged learning institutions to introduce a curriculum that will equip students with fire fighting skills.
The department's cadet officer Eliud Olimba while speaking on Fridays said that teaching learners on fire safety measures was important especially with the recent series of school arson attacks.
Olimba who was speaking in Eldoret while hosting Tulwobei primary school in Elgeyo Marakwet said that the curriculum would help reduce loss of lives and at the same time minimize school arson attack cases.
The 84 students who visited the department were sensitized on fire fighting tips, protective clothing used and role of the fire brigade in fighting fires.
