Uasin Gishu County Director of Education Dr. Nicodemus Anyang says such schools if found will face closure.

He said all teachers either in private or public schools must have a minimum qualification and must be registered with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).

"According to the TSC Act of 2012 section 23 (2), a person shall not engage in teaching service unless he/she is registered as a teacher under this Act," said Dr. Anyang in Eldoret town, Tuesday.

"The Basic Education Act dictates that the proprietors of schools engaging in unregistered teachers risk punitive actions," he added.

Anyang reiterated that all teachers must have TSC numbers as cardinal requisite since children both in private and public schools belong to Kenya, hence deserve certified and quality education.

He, however, warned school management boards against imposing illegal levies on students noting that the government will take stern actions on any school head going against the guidelines by the Ministry of Education.

Dr. Anyang noted that no student should miss lessons because of such levies charged by the school heads.
