This is in what the association's chairman Nicholas Maiyo says is infringing the students right to freedom of religion.

Addressing the press in Eldoret after a meeting Muslim leaders in Uasin Gishu, Maiyo further warned schools against forcing Akorino students not to wear their turbans.

"There are some schools that are forcing Muslim students to attend church service and we want to ask teachers involved in this issue to stop with immediate effect," said Maiyo.

"We also have reports of the Akorino sect students being forced to take off their turbans and this are things that should not be happening at this age," he added.

Similar sentimenrs were shared by the Uasin Gishu council of Imams and Preachers of Kenya (CIPK) chairman Sheikh Abubakar Bini who claimed some schools in the county were forcing Muslim students not to wear Hijabs.

According to Section 32 of the Kenyan constitution, every person has the right to freedom of conscience, religion, thought, belief and opinion.
