Scores have been arrested in Nairobi after county inspectorate officers on Wednesday launched a crackdown over illegal dumping garbage in Nairobi.
City Hall Senior Inspector Peter Mbaya said that nobody will be spared if found breaking the law on dumping.
"So far, we have done a crackdown at Eastleigh Area, Muthurwa Market and the Central Business District (Kweria Road, downtown)," he said.
Mbaya said hotel owners must carefully get rid of their solid waste or risk arrests.
In Eastleigh area, the county staff arrested owners of the New Ramadan Restaurant after they were found to have poorly dumped garbage from their premises.
"The operation has just started and it will go on until Nairobi is clean," Mbaya said.
