28 girls at Kamandura Secondary School in Limuru were injured after a dining hall and 10 dormitories caught fire on Monday night.

According to the school principal Faith Muchiri, the fire started at around 10pm during night preps.

The cause of the fire has not been established.

"The fire started at around 10pm during night preps. Some of our students tried to fight the fire to save their belongings, some being injured in the process. We have not established the cause of the tragedy," said Muchiri.

The County Government of Kiambu firefighting and rescue team arrived later but not much was salvaged.
