Scouts in Uasin Gishu County joined their compatriots around the world on Monday, February 22 to mark the birth of Robert Baden-Powell, the group's founder.
Speaking during the celebrations, Governor Jackson Mandago pledged support to help gladden the once dynamic Scouts' Movement.
The governor said his government will partner with Scouts Clubs to revive the movement.
"The county will see to it that the movement is brought back. We shall work closely with the clubs and see how we can chip in to fund exercises like serious extensive camping and training," he said.
The governor, who also inspected a guard of honour of close to 400 scouts drawn from schools across the county, said that it was through such activities that the scouts would grow and become responsible people in the society.
"We have places like Kapsillot Hill, among others, where we can take these children to train and learn to be responsible persons in the society," he said.
Mr Mandago revealed that plans are underway to establish a Scouts' Movement Centre within the county.
The celebrations were held at the county government headquarters.
Governor Mandago sits as the county's Movement Patron.
