Kisii journalist have asked security officers to protect them from attacks and harassment by hired goons.
This came after the journalists were assaulted by university students at Kisii university when they were covering a demonstration on Monday.
The scribes were barred from accessing the school compound.
One of the scribes from Standard media group was told to erase all the pictures from the camera and a female journalist from NTV was chased and lost her shoes.
The female journalist was forced to walk barefooted for about 10km.
Kisii scribes Chairman Joshua Araka said that media is supposed to be protected.
The Chairman said that this is not the first time that the scribes have been assaulted.
"Media is the eyes of the public, I wonder why they should be attacked, " said Araka.
"We can't sit and watch our colleagues being attacked like that," he added.
