A Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut) official wants the government to take drastic action against Kenya National Examination Council (Knec) officials for exam leakages.
Knut secretary general for Nyamira branch, Julius Matwere said Knec has eroded the credibility of national examinations.
"The national examination council has watered down the credibility of national exams; something that has made the public to lose trust in the body hence the government must chip in and take action against Knec," said Matwere.
The Knut official described the situation as unacceptable saying it was totally unfair for several candidates who are diligently trying to pass their exams.
"While a section of candidates can access exam leakages, others are struggling to put their brains to paper; this vice is totally unacceptable," he added.
Matwere says the national examiner to explain to Kenyans the source of the exam leakages or else suspend the exams.
"The back stops with Knec and they must come out clear and explain to Kenyans the source of examination leakages or else suspend the ongoing exams with immediate effect," he said.
Knec Chief Executive Officer, Joseph Kivilu has however said the Kenya National Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations will continue as scheduled.
