Mwembe estate residents in Kisii have appealed to the county government to ensure that county developers seal the open sewers that have recently become a threat to their health.'
The residents said that in the last one month most of the sewers have been flowing off the road and many of their children are found playing around them, therefore, putting their life at risk.
Led by area Nyumba Kumi chairperson Dickson Kimori on Monday evening, the residents said that now they have been forced to lock in their children whenever they go out for business as they fear that they may fall into the many open sewers.
Kimori said that they have given the county government an ultimatum of two weeks to ensure necessary action is taken.
"We won’t like to see this continue and we are ready to deal with the county government in two weeks time if they don’t take any action on the issues we have raised," he added.
Kimori said that they have already written an official letter to the county health department and they expect feedback.
