An ODM MP has asked opposition supporters to remain calm as NASA’s top leadership pursues the creation of Africa’s new nation after Kenya is split.Mvita MP Abdulswamad Nassir said on Wednesday that government threats directed at NASA leaders with regard to the secession debate were empty and will not stop “an agenda whose time has come”.NASA leader Raila Odinga and Governors Hassan Joho (Mombasa) and Amason Kingi (Kilifi) last week held a consultative meeting in Kikambala where the first debate on secession took place. Also in attendance were MPs Nassir, Aisha Jumwa (Malindi) and Mishi Mboko (Likoni).Coast leaders have been at the forefront of pushing for the secession of the region on claims that Coast has undergone marginalisation through successive governments since independence.“We have a big agenda and the big agenda includes things to do with secession which is something that probably will not happen in the next five or ten years but eventually will happen,” Nassir said at Parliament buildings. So far 15 counties have passed motions forming people’s assemblies which the opposition is banking on to pursue its agenda including secession. The government, however, has warned the opposition against calling for secession, saying Kenya remains a unitary State.Attorney General Githu Muigai said Kenya is one unified republic affirmed by the 2010 Constitution and can't secede an inch of its territory.“Read the Constitution, the preamble. It says Kenya is one unified whole republic affirmed by the 2010 Constitution. That is the law. The only levels of autonomy are the counties and the Constitution affirms that, even in its preamble," Muigai said recently. He said the preamble states Kenyans are proud of their ethnic, cultural and religious diversity and are determined to live in peace and unity as one indivisible sovereign nation. Is there a newsworthy accident, incident or event happening in Mombasa County that you want Hivisasa to cover?
