Governor Alfred Mutua has slammed people calling for secession, saying they should not be given space to air or propagate the debate.
Mutua says that the country not reached any level for secession, adding that those propagating for it have hidden agenda.
Speaking to journalists in Machakos on Sunday, Mutua asked Kenyans to distance from secession debate.
He said that secession could fuel animosity among Kenyans if tolerated.
“I don’t agree with those fronting for secession because it is not an option as they claim,” he said as quoted by the People Daily.
Governor Mutua asked the national government to investigate those fronting for the country’s’ split and establish their motive.
He said that anyone pushing for the country’s division is an enemy.
Governor Mutua appealed to Kenyans to be calm, peaceful and focus on nation building.
Economic David Ndii is pushing for secession through an online petition that is targeting one million signatures.
Ndii, who is linked to NASA says that it is time the country split on grounds that some communities have been marginalized on matters national leadership.
The secession debate continues to illicit mixed reactions with the government warning that it will not tolerate people who are out to divide the country.
