[Photo/KCGPS]Kisumu Governor Prof Anyang' Nyong'o alongside his Deputy Ochieng' Owili joined family, friends, and relatives of the late Titus Okul in paying him last respects at his rural home in Kombewa. Titus who was a student at Maseno University, was shot dead by the police at Kit-Mikayi, Seme Constituency on October 26 during opposition's NASA protests against holding of the fresh presidential election."Titus died as a soldier. We applaud him for being part of the resistant movement," said Nyong'o.He told mourners that the county government of Kisumu would sue the police for their brutality being meted to residents in Kisumu County.

Nyong'o decried marginalization of the people of Luo Nyanza by the government saying they need to find a way to enjoy the fruits of democracy.

"We have been oppressed for too long, we have been neglected for too long, we have been ignored for too long, it is time to rise up and defend our dignity, even if it means secession it will be," he said on Saturday.Other local leaders present reiterated their commitment to ensuring NASA's National Resistance Movement agenda is reached.Area James Nyikal, local MCAs, a delegation from the county government and Maseno University fraternity were also present.
