Barely two weeks after fire erupted at a local protected natural environment centre in Nakuru town, another incident broke out on Friday night at the same place, sending panic over the cause.
The Public Relations Officer at Hyrax Prehistoric Site and Museum Zakayo Akwaro told our reporter at the museum that security guards acted quickly to put out the mysterious fire that erupted at around 10pm.
According to the Public Relations officer, the cause of the fire is unknown, adding to the first incident two weeks ago.
He said security guards, who responded quickly, saved further destruction to a section of the natural environment at the government-run site, after they used green tree leaves and shrubs to fight the fire.
“It is unfortunate that this has happened for the second time running in a short duration. Our security guards responded fast and managed to put out the fire but did not notice any intruders in the museum,” he said.
We suspect that people who live near the museum and who pass through here unnoticed are behind these incidences,” he added.
He added that the fires have destroyed and affected several ecosystem circles to plants and wildlife in the park.
