The war against Kidney related complications has received a major boost after another Hospital in Eldoret town joined the list of those with the ability to conduct kidney transplant; the ultimate solution for patients with kidney failure.Two successful Kidney transplants were conducted at the St Luke's Orthopedic and Trauma Hospital, making the hospital the first private facility outside Nairobi to carry out the exercise.Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital has been the only facility in the entire North Rift region with the ability to conduct Kidney transplant.According to Dr Edward Mugalo who led the operation, the facility will now carry out kidney transplants on a regular basis especially after the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) expanded its coverage to cater for Kidney related compilations.He challenged Kenyans with kidney ailments to seek for solutions in the country instead of spending much to seek for treatment abroad.“With the support of NHIF we are looking forward to doing this regularly because we want our patients to benefit,” noted Dr Mugalo.“Those who have to travel outside the country seeking these services we want them to know that those services can be found withing the country,” he added.[St Luke's Orthopedic and Trauma Hospital.
