The Head-teachers want a specific mark to be put for candidates joining various National Schools, County Schools among others to avert the confusions being experienced in form one selection currently.

Speaking over the weekend at Kisumu Girls High School in Kisumu, the National Chairman of KESSHA John Awiti said that students do a common examination and score differently when the results are out, therefore suggesting admission based on specific standard minimum marks to join various schools to be set.

Awiti said the best schools like at the national level should accommodate the students who performed well as a reward to their hard work then the next lots to county schools, district and others in that line.

“When you have a situation where some students who have scored as low as 200 marks being admitted at national schools then it kills the morale of some learners to work hard,” said Awiti.

Awiti said that the scenario currently is that poor performers are now celebrating while those who performed well are still struggling to get the school of their choices hence killing the morale of learners.

He gave an example saying that when a child who scored 200 marks is in same school with fellow students who had over 400 marks, he/she will feel misplaced but if they are placed according to performance, the children will be comfortable.
