Confirming the situation on Tuesday morning the principal Lucy Mutwiri blamed the Kenya Power and Lighting Company for delaying the repairing and restoration of power.

“The school has been faced with a power shortage since Saturday morning and we have reached KPLC agents who have said they will check on the problem but up to today nothing has been done,” said Mutwiri.

According to Mutwiri a lot of activities have been disrupted, including the learning programs at night and early morning.

“We usually have night preps and morning preps for the students to have enough time to read and tackle the syllabus, but for the last four days it is not possible. And since the girls are required to go to their dormitories by 7:30 due to observing security of the girls, the waking up time has also changed,” said Mutwiri.

The school has since been faced with water shortage as the water is routinely pumped to different tanks within the school using electricity.

The principal has called upon the KPLC to intervene urgently and restore power in the school to enable normal conducive learning environment for the students.

This comes less than a week after traders and business owners in Tala and Kangundo town lamented to KPLC over frequent power shortages in the area that has caused them a lot of losses and extra cost when required to sort other means of energy.
