A form three student died in a pit latrine at his home in Gatuanyaga, Thika Sub County on Monday.
Peter Mbogo 17, is said to have arrived home after school when he decided to relief himself in their latrine where he met his death.
His father, Johnson Mbogo, said that he heard his son scream and when he ran to find out what was happening he found out that the latrine he was in had collapsed; his son was crying for help in the wrecked latrine.
He asked for help from the neighbours who got him out of the waste but he was unlucky since he succumbed to the injuries while being rushed to Thika level 5 hospital.
Thika east police boss, Daniel Chacha, confirmed the incident urged residents to construct good latrine structures so that they can prevent similar accidents.
The latrine faults occurred due to the heavy downpour which rained in the last weekend and thus the residents have been asked to make sure their structures are safe for use.
The deceased's body is preserved at General Kago Mortuary in Thika.
