Secondary school principals in Uasin Gishu county have been warned against charging fees for day school students.County's director of Education Nicodemus Anyang' has issued the warning noting that the national govern had already rolled out free day secondary school education across the country.He said any principal found charging fees to day students will face the full force of the law."I have received information from the public that there are some principals in day schools deceiving parents that they are supposed to pay some amount, this is not true since the government has paid for everything except for lunch which is optional," Anyang' said in Eldoret on Thursday."Concerning lunch, parents and teachers can make a local arrangement but should be reasonable and afforded by every parent any overcharging will not be allowed," he added.The county director challenged parents to act as watchdogs and report any teachers charging extra fees contrary to the ministry of education's directive."I will not allow our parents to be exploited by few self-centered principals whose aim is to make money yet education is free, such individuals will be removed from the service," warned Anyang'.
