After several months of anxiety, the National Super Alliance (NASA) supporters will know their flag bearer today.
The opposition leaders said last week at the Bomas of Kenya that the unveiling wll take place at Uhuru Park, Nairobi.
Thousands of supporters are expected at the historic venue.
NASA principals – Raila Odinga (ODM), Moses Wetangula (Ford Kenya), Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper) and Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto (CCM) – shall grace the occasion.
Reports say that several dignitaries from other African countries shall attend the function.
“We have invited representatives of friendly political parties from the region and also international organisations,” Ford Kenya’s Eseli Simuyu told the media Wednesday evening.
The NASA coalition agreement says that whoever shall become president among the principals will share power with his colleagues, including appointment of Cabinet secretaries.
A power sharing document between the principals says Raila will be the opposition’s flag bearer, and the likeliest running mate Kalonzo – a repeat of the 2013 general election line-up.
Raila will be seeking the presidency for the fourth time.
The principals formed a 12 member National Coordinating Committee (NCC )and a Technical Committee to identify their strengths and weaknesses as far as pulling voters towards the opposition side is concerned, and also wooing Jubilee Party supporters.
The NCC had submitted to the principals, the ideal line up that would tackle Jubilee’s President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto.
The leaders went on a retreat in Kilifi County to deliberate on the ideal line up that would remove Jubilee from power.
