A section of Kiambu leaders have ganged up to lead the Kiambu residents on the motion to impeach the County Governor William Kabogo in what they term as draconian government.

The leaders said that they have lost trust and confidence in the county government and they only need 10% of the registered voters in Kiambu County to approve the removal of the governor.

Led by the Limuru ward MCA Njenga Murugami who was speaking in Limuru dumpsite on Sunday, he said that Kiambu County has only 861,000 registered voters and they only need 86,000 signatures to be presented to the President and the senate to allow the dissolution of the county government.

He said that more than ten Kiambu Members of Parliament are backing the move with various MCAs and has called on residents to sign the signature which is moving around the county to bring change in the county government of Kiambu.

The increased levy in the financial bill by the county government has resulted to tag of war by Kiambu leaders and traders saying the bill is punitively unreasonable.

They accused the county government for tailoring and doctoring the bill to kick traders out of their business creating unemployment and the bill was allegedly passed without the participation and consent of the public.

Murugami said that MP Ichungwa Kimani (Kikuyu), Alice Ng’ang’a (Thika) Jude Njomo (Kiambu), John Kiragu (Limuru), Francis Waititu (Juja) and Kigo Njenga (Gatundu North) are among the leaders who are backing the firing of the county governor.

The MCA said that they are tired to pay high taxes to the county government yet roads are in poor shape and has urged residents to join hands in impeaching bad leaders in the county.
