Security agencies in Eldoret East will soon commence community meetings in the area to curb escalating insecurity that has led to killings in the area.
Speaking on Saturday evening during a farewell party for the security officers, Eldoret East OCPD Richard Omwanga said the move will enhance cooperation between the residents and security agencies.
This comes after Richard Tirop, an athlete and his friend, was killed at Kipkorgot area as residents vow to continue to stage demonstrations in the area.
Their bodies were found by area residents Thursday morning.
Tirop won Barbados Marathon in the USA in the years 2010 – 2011, a Half Marathon in 2012, 2013 and in 2014 and the 10 KM race in 2011.
In 2014, the Running Times named him ‘Master Long Distance Runners of the year’.
