Mavoko sub county's security team is committed in fighting drug and substance abuse through the elimination of both the demand and supply of illegal substance from the region.
Addressing press in his office on Tuesday, David Tegutwa, Assistant County Commissioner said that the law of supply and demand had to be put into consideration in order to successfully tackle the drug issue.
Tegutwa said that the security team from the region was conducting normal operations to control and eliminate illegal liquor and hard drugs such as bhang from the sub county.
He disclosed that the team occasionally conduct major crack downs in places suspected to be breaching, or operating against the liquor and substance act.
The officer revealed that apart from enforcing the act, his office had embarked on robust sensitization and awareness creation to the community especially among the youth who he said were the highest consumers of the illicit products in the region.
Tegutwa said that the officers including chiefs, assistant chiefs and himself use barazas,organized youth organizations, churches, community based organizations and NGOs were creating platforms of make the community aware of substance abuse and their effects.
He called on members of the public to cooperate and give information to security agents to help in enhancing security in their neighbourhoods and entire sub county.
