Governor Abdullahi said that his administration has already put in place measures to secure the county from any possible criminal activities.

He revealed that only health workers operating within Wajir town and some parts of Wajir South left their stations adding that more than half of those officials had resumed duty.

Abdullahi spoke when he met Principal Secretary for Health Khadija Kassachoon, Teachers Service Commission Secretary Gabriel Lengeiboni and Regional coordinator Earnest Mwinyi.

This comes after TSC directed teachers to report to their work stations by January 26 2015 assuring them that security has been enhanced.

“The government has beefed up security in the areas cited and as a result, all public transport vehicles to Wajir, Mandera And Garissa will be given armed security escort,” read a statement signed by TSC CEO Gabriel Lengoiboni.

In addition, TSC CEO Lengoiboni’s statement went ahead to read that security personnel will be posted around learning institutions and other public facilities as a way of ensuring safety of the residents. Patrols will also be intensified both day and night.

The transfer requests were made by teachers after 64 people were killed by suspected Al-Shabaab militias in Mandera County in two separate incidents last year.

All the affected teachers are required to travel to their work stations from Monday January 19 2015 and start teaching duties by January 26 2015 without failure.
